About Us - How did we get here?
Owner / Breaker - Jon Turner
Life can truly take you full circle.
Growing up in NC, I first developed a passion for sports cards in '92 at the age of 10 - I can vividly remember my first purchase of a complete set of 1992 Topps Baseball from my LSC. I opened the set, studied the stats, sorted them in numerous ways, and soon began trading them with my friends. The hobby quickly proved to be the perfect outlet for my love of sports, numbers, and an innate desire to collect something (with a little value) that I could call my own.
By the time I got my driver's license at 16, I had turned my hobby into a business, setting up at the flea market and even the occasional local card show on the weekends. I was always more focused on building a personal collection than profit, but eventually let the business and even the hobby go as it proved too difficult to sustain once I headed off to college at NC State. Thus I got out right as Brady's rookies were coming out... oh, and I also skipped Kobe's rookie year as I was starting high school. Great timing, but I digress...
After fumbling through college, I spent most of the next 20 years heavily immersed in the world of professional poker. At some point, most of us in that lifestyle look for ways to diversify our interests... so flash forward to the summer of 2020, when a great friend from college, Karim (IG: kos.cardroom), reintroduced me to the hobby. I began perusing my old collection from the junk wax era to find cards worth grading, discovered an entirely new era of the hobby with breaking at the forefront, and eventually decided this... looks... like... fun! Plus, with COVID having eliminated the World Series of Poker from my summer schedule, it seemed like the perfect time to re-ignite an old passion.
Thus I launched KOs-cardbreaks with the goal of providing a customer oriented service with breaks run just as I would like to see them run if I was buying in myself. Clarity and transparency, easy communication, super fast shipping, careful handling and packaging of all cards, fun value-added giveaways, and sparing no expense when toploading.
I know there are plenty of breakers out there - thank you for joining us, and I sincerely hope you are happy with our service!
